WEF Circular Water Economy Study Tour Application
August 24–30, 2025 – Japan
I recently submitted my application to be selected for a unique international study tour hosted by the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the Japan Sewage Works Association (JSWA). This weeklong program will explore Japan’s leadership in industrial water reuse, circular infrastructure, and sustainable remediation. Only five WEF members will be selected to participate.
In my application, I highlighted my experience as a licensed industrial wastewater operator actively working on EPA and USACE Superfund remediation sites in New Jersey. I detailed how I’ve implemented closed-loop water reuse systems on-site, reducing potable water use, recovering treated effluent, and operating under strict compliance conditions.
I also shared my involvement with the NJWEA’s Industrial Environmental Quality Committee (IEQC) and my participation in EPA-sponsored Community Advisory Groups (CAGs) for the Hackensack and Passaic River Superfunds. Through these platforms, I’ve been contributing technical insights and helping shape future cleanup conversations rooted in circularity and environmental justice.
This study tour represents a rare chance to learn directly from Japan’s circular water models and bring those ideas home to strengthen local effort, from on-the-ground treatment operations to public-facing community work.
I'm excited to share the full version of my application below.
